Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- A. Assures compliance with Nursing Practice Guidelines.
- B. Maintains and displays knowledge of current professional/clinical issues and uses evidence based resources to implement necessary changes in the delivery of nursing care.
- C. Conducts regular rounds in order to monitor hospital activities and to ensure activities are carried out in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.
- D. Investigates patient and visitor complaints, gathering information from all persons involved, contacts department managers, as appropriate, and prepares summary reports.
- E. Serves as a clinical and administrative resource for staff in relation to Lahey Clinic policy and procedures.
- F. Fosters a systematic awareness of the diversity that exists within the organization, including culture, ethnicity, gender and age and promotes an environment that is sensitive to the needs of diverse populations.
- G. Links departmental goals to organizations mission and goals.
- H. Works collaboratively to solve problems, improve processes and integrate services within Nursing and other departments.
- I. Supports new ideas and changes within the department by actively participating and contributing.
- J. Demonstrates flexibility in meeting demands of the department.
- K. Coordinates and directs activities during Clinic emergencies and/or disaster drills, using established disaster plans.
- L. Reviews outcome measures and works collaboratively with leadership team to improve patient outcomes. Ie: National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) and Core Measures.
- M. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams to:
- Comply with regulatory standards
- Improve patient satisfaction
- Identify, assess, measure and systematically improve important processes and activities.
- N. Encourages creativity and celebrates staff accomplishments.
- O. Communicates staffing concerns to Nurse Managers and Associate Chiefs.
- P. Encourages staff participation on Shared Governance Councils, nursing committees, and organization committees.
- Q. Provides a safe environment for discussion of issues.
- R. Coaches and supports staff by removing barriers and addressing issues.
- S. Develops effective communication methods to keep staff and others informed about the activities of the organization and department.
- T. Allocates resources effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective services.
- U. Pursues self-awareness, actively seeks feedback, accepts constructive criticism, and modifies behavior accordingly.
- V. Engages in professional development activities such as education, participating in professional associations, or other appropriate activities.
- W. Maintains necessary continuing education requirements for license, certifications and enhancements.
- X. Maintains own educational record.
- Y. Supports Lahey Clinics commitment to community-based activities both within the Lahey community and beyond.
- Z. Maintains and displays knowledge of current professional issues through participation in a professional organization and certification in field of nursing.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of Approved/accredited School of nursing.
- Licensure, Certification, Registration: Requires current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Clinical Skills/Technical Knowledge - Demonstrates the necessary clinical competence in area of nursing practice.
- Interpersonal and Organizational Skills - Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Basic Computer Skills - Basic computer skills.
Experience
- Five years of tertiary nursing experience.
Pay Range
$125,985.60 USD – $187,200.00 USD
