Responsibilities
- Directs day-to-day operations of the Einstein Med Surg, managing RNs, LPNs, Nursing Assistants, and support staff.
- Ensures clinical support coverage and training across common areas of coverage for RNs and PAs to meet staffing and service standards for IP and ED coverage.
- Works with campus leadership to support the Emergency Department and Inpatient services.
- Collaborates with the Director of Finance to oversee financial performance of Nursing, including budget development, supply chain initiatives, and personnel expenses.
- Maintains compliance with Joint Commission (TJC) standards under the guidance of the Medical Director of Quality and Safety, Manager of QI/QC, and hospital leadership.
- Fosters learning and development opportunities for staff to enhance care delivery and ensure competency and knowledge in the profession.
- Learns and collaborates on specific projects related to operations and process improvement, standardizing procedures and troubleshooting issues.
- Maintains and updates departmental policies and procedures, ensuring staff are informed of changes and guidelines.
- Develops and maintains safety procedures, work instructions, emergency procedures, and operating instructions for all nursing staff.
- Maintains and ensures compliance with relevant licenses, certifications, and documentation for the Department.
- Fosters relationships with key stakeholders, including other departments and physicians, to align with departmental goals and improve quality care, patient safety, and customer service.
Requirements
- Preferred Education: Master’s Degree
- Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Specialty Certification: Preferred
- Previous Nursing Leadership/Management Experience: 3-5 years
- Med Surg Experience: Required
- Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:
- Licensed NYS Registered Nurse
- BLS/ACLS
- Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, excellent communication and critical thinking skills, ability to work with diverse groups, and strong initiative to learn and lead.
