Administrative Fellow

Application deadline: first week of September (no later than September 11). Virtual interviews in the second and third weeks of October; final candidates advance to onsite interviews in the first and second weeks of November with C-Suite leadership and Medical Staff. Offer expected by Thanksgiving; target start date June 1 or July 1, 2027.

About the role

One-year post-graduate fellowship designed to develop future healthcare leaders through immersive training in pediatric health services administration. Fellows rotate through operational, clinical, and support departments while leading strategic projects that support organizational priorities and professional development. The program provides broad exposure to pediatric healthcare operations through experiences with the Arkansas Children’s Foundation, Arkansas Children’s Research Institute, and other healthcare-related community organizations.

Responsibilities

• Participate in rotational assignments across operational, clinical, and support departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of healthcare administration while contributing to departmental and organizational initiatives.
• Lead and participate in strategic projects that align with organizational priorities and the professional development goals of the fellowship.
• Attend and actively participate in administrative meetings, committees, and other assigned organizational meetings to gain exposure to executive decision-making and healthcare operations.
• Assist with organizational planning, budgeting, process improvement, and departmental problem-solving activities under the guidance of executive leadership and fellowship preceptors.
• Collaborate with leaders across the organization to analyze operational challenges, develop recommendations, and implement solutions that improve efficiency, quality, and patient experience.
• Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication by preparing reports, presentations, and project updates, while maintaining regular communication with fellowship preceptors regarding project status, accomplishments, and potential risks.
• Exercise sound judgment, critical thinking, and professionalism in managing routine assignments, addressing operational issues, and responding to changing priorities.
• Represent Arkansas Children’s in internal committees, community organizations, and professional associations while demonstrating the organization’s mission, values, and standards of professionalism.
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies, confidentiality requirements, and all applicable rules and regulations while accepting responsibility and accountability for assigned work.
• Participate in ongoing performance evaluations, feedback sessions, and professional development activities to successfully complete fellowship objectives and prepare for future healthcare leadership roles.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• One of the following:
  • Master’s degree in a related field of study; or
  • Completed the didactic curriculum of an applicable master’s degree program and is required to complete a one-year administrative fellowship as part of the degree requirements.
• Flu vaccines are required.
• Tobacco-free workplace.
