Administrative Coordinator – Medical Legal Partnership Workgroup
About the role
The position of Administrative Coordinator – Medical Legal Partnership is open at LAFLA, a nonprofit law firm dedicated to increasing access to justice for the most underserved communities in Greater Los Angeles.
Responsibilities
- Answers client calls; conducts phone and in-person client intakes; screens clients for eligibility and triages appropriate legal assistance;
- Works with advocates in clinic settings to increase legal services to the Long Beach community;
- Collaborates with paralegals and attorneys to provide holistic services and referrals;
- Translates routine correspondence to Spanish; provides Spanish interpretation of legal documents and court forms to clients;
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be computer proficient; has experience with Word, Excel, and Power Point;
- Experience interviewing individuals in crisis and/or providing assistance to individuals who have low-income;
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage a high-volume caseload;
- Comfortable with case management systems and other technology;
- Commitment to social justice;
- Good written and oral communications skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently;
- Spanish language skills required;
- Ability to work collaboratively with all LAFLA staff, clients, and community organizations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a legal setting or similar field.
- Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay
$52,500.00k – $59,055.36k / annually DOE, with excellent benefits.

Work Schedule
The organization has adopted a sustainable schedule whereby employees get several Fridays off during the year. Depending on job classifications, some LAFLA staff are working on a manager-approved hybrid work schedule, with the ability to work remotely up to half the week, if preferred, after the probationary period.
Office Closures
All LAFLA offices will be closed on Friday, July 3 in observance of Independence Day.
