About the role
Provide administrative support to professional DDS staff responsible for determining eligibility for Social Security benefits for Oklahomans using Federal Social Security Administration provisions.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial evaluations and request medical records (screening) on Social Security Disability claims
- Contact Social Security disability applicants to complete forms and answer questions via phone
- Operate a switchboard, answering and directing incoming calls to office staff
- Access confidential information—personal demographics, Social Security numbers, earnings records, work histories, prior disability filings, and medical information—using SS Electronic Query Systems/Disability Claims Systems
- Identify, enter, and transfer sensitive information electronically to the appropriate destination within various SSA operating systems
- Monitor consultative examination providers to ensure correct scheduling and timely receipt of medical reports
- Arrange for the scheduling and/or purchase of medical evidence of record and consultative physical and mental examinations
- Verify medical records are complete before authorizing payment in accordance with Social Security Administration and Disability Determination Division policies and procedures
- Maintain vendor files
- Perform general office operations and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school education preferred or one year of technical clerical office work, public contact work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Federal background check required
