About the Role
Laurel Hall School is seeking a highly organized, professional, and compassionate Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of our behavioral health school. This position serves as a primary point of contact for students, families, staff, and community partners while providing administrative and clerical support to school leadership. The Administrative Assistant plays a critical role in creating a welcoming environment, maintaining student and staff records, coordinating communications, and ensuring the efficient operation of the school office. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in an educational setting that supports students with behavioral and emotional challenges.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to school leadership and staff.
- Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, families, students, and community partners.
- Answer and direct phone calls, respond to inquiries, and relay messages professionally.
- Prepare, edit, and maintain correspondence, reports, meeting materials, and school documentation.
- Maintain student, staff, and operational records in accordance with school policies and confidentiality requirements.
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, and calendars for administrators and school staff.
- Assist with student enrollment, attendance tracking, and record management.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, communications, and documentation.
- Support payroll, timekeeping, scheduling, and other administrative processes as assigned.
- Maintain office supplies and coordinate purchasing requests.
- Assist with data entry and reporting requirements.
- Exercise sound judgment when handling confidential student, family, and personnel information.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, clinicians, administrators, and support staff.
- Support special projects, school events, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three years of administrative, office support, or customer service experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with office software, databases, and standard office technology.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, families, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or post-secondary education.
- Experience working in a school, special education, behavioral health, healthcare, or human services setting.
- Experience supporting administrators or leadership teams.
- Familiarity with student information systems and educational recordkeeping practices.
