About This Position

The Phoenix Fire Department (PFD) is committed to providing the highest level of public safety services to our community. We protect lives and property through fire suppression, emergency medical and transportation services, disaster response, fire prevention, and public education. Our members strive every day to Prevent Harm, Survive, and Be Nice! We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant I in the Executive Office to support this mission.

Areas Of Responsibility

  • Managing Executive Office calendars and scheduling.
  • Serving as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and community members.
  • Maintaining office supplies and inventory.
  • Overseeing travel arrangements and related documentation.
  • Distributing Council and committee materials.
  • Supporting the Central Arizona Life Safety Council (CALSC), Regional Operations Consistent Committee (ROCC), and related subcommittees.
  • Drafting official communications and notices.
  • Preparing reports and briefing materials.
  • Providing coverage, completing special projects, and improving processes.

Salary

PAY RANGE: $25.43 to $45.67 per hour.
HIRE RANGE: $25.43 to $41.42 per hour.
PAY RANGE EXPLANATION: Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of paraprofessional experience in governmental research and finance administration or paraprofessional experience aiding an administrative officer in technical and administrative problems and affairs.
  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing complex calendars for senior executives, including balancing urgent priorities, standing commitments, and last-minute changes.
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience coordinating and overseeing general event planning.
  • Experience overseeing executive office, administrative, and office management functions.
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, Fire Department operations and culture.
