Listed is the base hiring salary range offered for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to skills and experience. The salary range is one component of the total rewards/compensation package.

  • Minimum: $120,799.72
  • Midpoint: $157,039.64
  • Maximum: $193,279.55

About the Role

The Administrative Director is primarily accountable for the planning, implementation, and operation of the Patient Financial Services and Patient Access departments to meet the organization's goals. This role provides leadership and expertise in managing these departments, maintaining accountability for human resource management, financial management, and quality management in support of YRMC's mission, vision, and strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive a program in cooperation with the VP Revenue Cycle to routinely monitor performance per volumes, referrals, and trends.
  • Manage financial results through a financial and operational plan driven by budget, targets, and organizational goals.
  • Engage staff in efforts to contain costs and improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness of services.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and upper management for financial and administrative issues.
  • Actively participate in the development, planning, and operations for departments within the role's scope.
  • Provide guidance for billing and collection management to resolve internal and external issues.
  • Conduct payer trend analysis, focusing on initial denials and underpayments, to ensure optimal claims processing and reimbursement.
  • Ensure continual efficient and compliant operational performance of the department/division and related areas.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Develop quality/performance improvement programs, instruct staff, and implement new standards.
  • Implement a rigorous quality program to ensure optimum customer service and compliance-related processes.
  • Delegate tasks to Directors, Managers/Supervisors, and monitor daily operations.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of key processes within the departments and evaluate opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure standardization of processes, regardless of patient accounting system.
  • Maintain awareness of third-party payer and governmental regulations to ensure billing compliance and timeliness of collections.
  • Proactively implement operational changes to improve service delivery.
  • Drive Directors, Managers, and Supervisors to optimize patient experience via service delivery.
  • Improve and report on registration metrics, including check-in wait times, point-of-service collections, financial counseling, patient satisfaction, and registration work queues.
  • Maintain good customer relationships and improve company services to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with patient experience teams to drive process improvements.
  • Provide vision, forward-thinking, and strategic planning in a proactive manner.
  • Develop an organized strategy to achieve both short- and long-term objectives for the department.
  • Communicate strategy effectively to subordinates to obtain commitment.
  • Exhibit unyielding commitment to providing excellent service to patients, physicians, employees, and other customers.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, including written and oral communication, active listening, and influencing behavior.
  • Foster an open interchange, respecting others' feelings, ideas, and opinions.
  • Promote a respectful work environment and Patient & Family Centered Care.
  • Set the tone in the department by communicating values and attitudes that shape the culture.
  • Develop others through setting clear expectations, mentoring, coaching, and holding others accountable.
  • Identify required competencies for effective human resource management and staffing needs.
  • Conduct oneself in an honest, credible, and trustworthy manner consistent with YRMC's values.
  • Ensure the workforce has the necessary skills to accomplish department objectives.
  • Partner with Human Resources to develop long-term human resource plans.
  • Foster an open working environment for expressing ideas and concerns.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration while keeping the team focused on common goals.
  • Leverage system capabilities to increase value for external and internal customers and eliminate barriers to care.
  • Participate in and champion community involvement within the department and organization.
  • Incorporate community goals into departmental goals and maintain continued education relevant to the role.
  • Comprehend how individual actions contribute to the overall good of the institution.
  • Understand and communicate how individual and department goals align with YRMC's goals.
  • Balance department needs with hospital needs and work collaboratively with key stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (essential).
  • Minimum of ten (10) years managerial experience in the Revenue Cycle space, including Patient Access and Patient Financial Services.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a similar field (preferred).
