Director Revenue Cycle
The Director of Revenue Cycle Services, Regional Business Partner (RBP), collaborates with PSJH leadership and the Revenue Cycle Regional Executive Partner to transform revenue cycle into a world-class operation for one of the largest and most innovative health companies in the United States. This role drives change in a large, highly matrixed organization, leveraging data, analytics, and best-in-class technology to deliver revenue uplift. The RBP is accountable for achieving revenue cycle performance goals, financial targets, and enhanced revenue yield for an assigned region.
Responsibilities
- Build effective internal partnerships and promote collaborative relationships with regional leadership and enterprise shared services, including finance, reimbursement, payer contracting, information technology, legal, and compliance.
- Evaluate end-to-end revenue cycle processes to maintain best practice standards and realize service and quality commitments.
- Keep key stakeholders fully informed on performance and important factors influencing it.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and regulatory requirements, with expertise in payer contracts.
- Champion a mission-driven culture embodying PSJH's core values of compassion, dignity, justice, excellence, and integrity.
- Inspire, mentor, and cultivate critical relationships with executives to drive operational outcomes in assigned region(s).
- Serve as the revenue cycle representative on local regional leadership committees and as the key point of contact for communication between acute ministries and revenue cycle.
- Partner with Chief Financial Officers and other regional leaders to develop revenue cycle strategy supporting the aims of the ministry or market.
- Achieve performance metrics and share timely, critical revenue cycle management information, trends, and opportunities between assigned ministries and revenue cycle leadership.
- Provide revenue cycle support to Community Connect, Affiliates, managed acute facilities, and physician and ambulatory enterprises as requested.
- Maintain open relationships between revenue cycle and reimbursement, payer contracting, financial planning and analysis, and operational leadership of assigned ministries.
- Provide local leadership and serve as a resource in standardizing revenue cycle policies and practices.
Performance Reporting and Revenue Management
- Accountable for performance reporting and metrics, with an emphasis on revenue leakage.
- Drive denials management and process improvements with regions.
- Lead denials management committees.
- Drive accountability and feedback to improve collections initiatives, including payment variances and month-end analytical reports.
Regional Partnership and Revenue Cycle Leadership
- Act as trusted advisers and field leaders to identify and resolve issues, including crisis management and leading special projects.
- Serve as the connection point between regions, revenue cycle, and shared services to drive system-wide performance.
- Embed in revenue cycle centers of excellence, payer contracting, reimbursement, and regional operations.
- Drive accountability and proactive interaction with key stakeholders.
- Partner with the data and analytics team to build robust reporting for CFOs.
- Connect other modalities (Ambulatory, Physician Enterprises, HCC, etc.).
Regional Leadership and Ministry Support
- Represent Revenue Cycle on regional leadership committees to help ministries move to common standards and practices.
- Establish relationships with Chief Financial Officers in assigned markets and provide revenue cycle guidance during strategic discussions.
- Serve as the point of contact for ministry issues and concerns related to revenue cycle.
- Work with revenue cycle leadership to resolve issues and communicate resolutions to ministries.
- Update revenue cycle leadership on ministry issues, concerns, and strategic plans impacting revenue cycle.
- Participate in regional leadership meetings and share relevant ministry issues or initiatives.
Growth, Expansion, and Industry Engagement
- Lead regional growth and expansion work in connection with revenue cycle centers of excellence.
- Support development and implementation of additional services or new ministries.
- Engage with ministry or regional planning requiring approval through Growth and Expansion.
- Provide input on revenue cycle topics or engage system resources for Growth and Expansion requests.
- Attend weekly Growth and Expansion meetings relevant to ministry projects.
- Participate in professional activities and affiliations to maintain knowledge of healthcare trends and changes.

Requirements
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or equivalent; or equivalent education/experience.
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or related area of study (preferred).
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience & Expertise
- 8 years of overall experience.
- 6 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare administration/operations with an emphasis on management, business, or account management in a leadership capacity.
- Track record in leadership, influencing others, and issue management.
- Proven initiative, self-direction, and motivation in work activities.
- Detailed understanding of revenue cycle concepts and issues.
- Ability to review revenue cycle reports and communicate trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.

Schedule
This role requires a hybrid schedule consisting of three days onsite and two days remote. Leaders must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the ministry or service area they support and lead.
