About the Role

Responsible for the overall effective and efficient delivery of radiology operations and services across the enterprise. Partners with Chief/Chair Radiologist and other stakeholders to develop and refine the radiology programs and services to ensure alignment with organizational initiatives and objectives. Maintains a “success is never final” perspective, continually seeking ways to improve or enhance services and processes. Provides sincere consideration and timely follow-up to customer concerns and suggestions for improvement. Utilizes resources (Industry and technical, Studer, Press Ganey, etc.) to maximize results.

Creates and maintains a culture of excellent service through span of control by ensuring leadership must-haves are in place and staff follow the Cooper experience standards consistently. Continually monitors metrics and makes adjustments to maximize efficiency and utilization, patient access, patient experience, patient and employee safety, quality outcomes, financial outcomes, and overall effectiveness and impact of the department. Maintains and utilizes a comprehensive radiology dashboard.

Ensures a constant state of readiness and compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, with active plans to address any deficiencies. Stays current with new regulations and best practices and prepares the department and staff accordingly. Collaborates with AVP, Institute and physician leaders, as well as Joint Venture partners to understand growth plans and other expected changes that ultimately impact radiology, planning accordingly to ensure flexibility for future needs.

Responsible for recruiting, retaining, and developing a high-performing radiology leadership team. Invests in continuing education and development, builds bench strength to support effective succession planning. Identifies opportunities for improvement and develops viable solutions for success. Works collaboratively with RIS/PACS and Information System support to optimize systems. Communicates effectively with all stakeholders, cascades information appropriately, and communicates with purpose and consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the effective and efficient delivery of radiology operations and services across the enterprise.
  • Partner with Chief/Chair Radiologist and stakeholders to align radiology programs with organizational objectives.
  • Continuously improve services and processes, addressing customer concerns and suggestions.
  • Monitor and adjust metrics to maximize efficiency, patient access, experience, safety, quality, and financial outcomes.
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, staying current with new regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership and Joint Venture partners to plan for future radiology needs.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop a high-performing radiology leadership team, including succession planning.
  • Optimize RIS/PACS and Information Systems to support radiology operations.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, ensuring information is cascaded appropriately.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a radiology department head; 10+ years preferred.
  • Understanding of all imaging modalities for inpatient and outpatient markets.
  • Experience working with budgets, expense management, and revenue cycle.
  • Experience with strategic radiology planning, equipment fleet management, and business development.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in a related healthcare field or business preferred.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school for Radiologic Technology.

Qualifications

  • ARRT certification preferred.
  • CRA certification preferred at hire or to be achieved within 12 months of hire.
  • Excellent knowledge of critical issues impacting radiology practice on a national and regional scale.
  • Leadership capability to develop programs maximizing clinical quality, safety, and engagement.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed organizational, analytical, and negotiating skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office software, RIS, and PACS.
  • Technical expertise in deploying IT products essential to Radiology.
