Role of the Position

This position provides front office support for the School of Life Sciences.

Responsibilities

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitation of daily front office operations with minimal supervision
  • Assist with class schedule builds for fall, spring, and summer terms
  • Assist and advise students with class registration issues and grant course permissions
  • Address and resolve classroom issues, building and facilities maintenance issues, key access issues and key ordering
  • Budget reporting and expense reconciliation and reporting
  • Regular and special event planning
  • Public relations
  • Backup reception duties when student worker is not available

Incumbent is expected to build strong interdepartmental relationships with campus entities. Must maintain a positive attitude, be dependable, able to work both independently and as part of a team, open-minded, proactive, and resourceful. Must possess effective and professional written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities
  • OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service, event planning, and basic accounting procedures preferred
  • Familiarity with NSHE/UNLV systems (Workday, MyUNLV) and operations is preferred but not required

Salary

Grade 27, Step 1, salary $46,207.44. In accordance with Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 284.170, initial appointments to classified positions typically begin at Step 1 of the assigned grade. A "Step" refers to the specific rate of pay within a grade, as determined by the Division of Human Resources.
