About the role
The Adjunct Pool - Art Department Position at Cal Lutheran University is a non-exempt, part-time position. This role is open for the Fall and Spring semesters and is available to candidates with a master's degree from a graduate institution of recognized standing or equivalent experience and professional recognition.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses.
- Assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students through appropriate assignments and activities.
- EAdvise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills.
- Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations.
- Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes.
- Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
The University seeks candidates who demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge in the subject field or discipline with specialization in one of more of the following: Sculpture, Ceramics, Printmaking, and Art and Psychology/Art Therapy. Candidates must possess a master's degree from a graduate institution of recognized standing or equivalent experience and professional recognition.

- Thorough and accurate knowledge in the subject field or discipline.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of University students.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of students with disabilities.
- Ability to integrate current and emerging instructional delivery technologies into the learning process.
Skills
Candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact, patience, and courtesy. They should also have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, speaking to exchange information, provide instruction, and make presentations, and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, push, pull, or lift light objects, bend and reach to store and/or retrieve files.

Pay
$32-$34.50 an hour.
