Adjunct - Philosophy

About the Role

Adjunct instructors are part-time faculty hired to teach a specified course(s) on a per-semester basis. Continuation of employment is assessed each semester based on adherence to administrative deadlines, communication, and student evaluations. Current openings are for classes running in Fall 2026.

Responsibilities

• Prepares lesson plans and instructs students in a classroom and/or virtual (TEAMS) setting, accounting for diverse learners and current trends.
• Provides support and guidance to students to optimize learning outcomes.
• Completes and maintains all required documentation and records by established deadlines, including syllabi, grades, attendance, and end-of-semester reflections on Student Learning Objectives (SLOs).
• Fosters a professional and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning, critical thinking, and personal growth.
• Provides meaningful hands-on application of material to reinforce learning.
• Performs additional duties as required by the Dean.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required, including a minimum of 18 credits in philosophy courses (e.g., ethics, morality, metaphysics).
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated prior teaching experience in a corporate or higher education setting preferred.
• Proficiency using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas).
