This is a pool posting for adjunct instructor positions. Applications are accepted continuously and reviewed when openings arise. Future teaching assignments are term-by-term and may include fall, spring, and summer semesters. The posting closes annually on October 31; applicants must reapply each year to remain in the pool.
About the Role
This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses on ground, including evening, off-campus, and distance-based courses.
- Post grades during the term for student feedback and submit final grades by the Registrar’s deadline.
- Complete required College trainings and submit reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions, and surveys by deadlines.
- Notify the Program Chair or Dean immediately if unable to teach a class.
- Attend meetings as requested by the Program Chair and/or Dean.
- Comply with all College and TBR policies and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Check JSCC email and departmental mailbox regularly; respond to messages within 48 hours (excluding weekends).
- Submit or update the class syllabus at least two weeks before the first day of class or within seven days of contract execution.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Philosophy or a related field with at least eighteen (18) graduate-level credit hours in Philosophy from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Collegiate-level teaching experience.
- Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Pay
$600 per credit hour.
