About the role
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences in the College of Arts of Sciences at the Mount Mercy University campus, located in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks qualified applicants to serve as an adjunct instructor in Philosophy for in-person courses in Fall 2026. Adjunct instructors will teach The Examined Life, designed as a student's first philosophy course.
Responsibilities
- Teach The Examined Life, a student's first philosophy course
- Contribute to the academic community through participation in departmental activities and meetings
Requirements
- A master's degree in philosophy or a closely related field is required
- Prior teaching experience may be considered favorably
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to engage students in philosophical inquiry
- Experience with adult learning and pedagogical techniques
