Duties

  • Facilitate student learning in clinical settings
  • Ensure safe and effective patient care experiences
  • Promote the integration of nursing theory into clinical practice
  • Mentor students
  • Evaluate clinical performance
  • Foster professional behaviors consistent with nursing standards
  • Support the Nursing Program through high-quality clinical instruction and supervision
  • Teach assignments in areas of medical surgical, psychiatric, or maternal/child nursing
  • Based upon an hourly wage, fulfill duties including preparation, instruction, evaluation, counseling, and grading
  • Perform evening and weekend instruction as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Preferred qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Nursing and a current New Mexico License or eligibility to obtain one
  • A minimum of two (2) years clinical experience in medical surgical nursing or specialty area
  • A demonstrated commitment to the community college and nursing philosophy of education
  • An appreciation for and understanding of the unique needs of students in both academic and vocational disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing recommended

Purpose And Scope

Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC) seeks a qualified and student-centered Adjunct Nursing Clinical Instructor to support the Nursing Program through high-quality clinical instruction and supervision. This position is responsible for preparing competent, entry-level nurses by mentoring students, evaluating clinical performance, and fostering professional behaviors consistent with nursing standards.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Organize and monitor work processes
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Established leadership skills including managing stakeholder groups and collaborating with partners
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, and presenting to groups and individuals
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
