Adjunct Clinical Nursing Instructor
About the role
The Clinical Nursing Instructor provides clinical supervision and instruction to undergraduate pre-licensure nursing students, promoting the development of clinical judgment and professional behaviors aligned with course objectives, program outcomes, and evidence-based practice standards. Clinical instructors collaborate with course faculty and are supported by the Asst. Director of Experiential Education/Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Placement Coordinator (Administrative) and Faculty Mentors.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and instruct students (4-8 per group depending on site) during assigned clinical rotations. Rotations are 8-10 hours shifts depending on location.
- Facilitate student learning in acute care (medical-surgical), specialty (pediatrics, maternity, mental health), and/or skilled nursing settings.
- Assign patient experiences that align with course objectives and clinical requirements.
- Plan and lead pre-brief and post-clinical conferences.
- Provide ongoing formative feedback to support student development.
- Complete midterm and final clinical evaluations in collaboration with course faculty.
Qualifications
- BSN required (MSN preferred)
- Minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience
- Current Maine RN license
- Recent clinical experience in acute care and/or skilled nursing (within the past 5 years)
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification (or by the time of clinical rotation start date).
- Ability to meet clinical site health, vaccination, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to meet physical and functional role expectations (e.g., lifting up to 50 lbs as per program Technical Standards)
