Adjunct - Masters of Social Work
Newman University’s Division of Social Work offers a program that prepares students for advanced social work practice and trauma-competent practice. We are seeking an MSW adjunct instructor at our Wichita campus. Compensation is a set rate per semester. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
About the role
Adjunct faculty contribute to the enrichment of our curriculum and work collaboratively with our faculty in teaching, learning, and assessment. They model the virtues they seek to inspire in students—curiosity, tolerance, honesty, fairness, and respect for diversity.
Responsibilities
- Teach graduate courses as assigned in keeping with departmental, university, and accreditation standards, policies, and procedures
- Attend NU new-employee orientation (if on main campus) and social-work adjunct orientation at the beginning of the semester
- Attend additional adjunct meetings as necessary
- Meet with the Lead Instructor of the assigned course at least two weeks prior to the start of the course to review syllabus, course materials, etc.
- Inform students of their progress by promptly returning assignments, quizzes, and examinations
- Submit mid-term and final grades on the required platform by the designated deadline
- Use Canvas and other technology as appropriate
- Consult with the Lead Instructor, MSW Program Director, or MSW in resolving student concerns
Requirements
- MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited social-work program
- A minimum of three years of relevant post-MSW social-work practice experience
- A minimum of 1–2 years of online teaching in higher education
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in social work or a related field
- A record of successful teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level
- A minimum of five years of relevant post-MSW social-work practice experience
- Licensed as a social worker or eligible for state licensure
