Department Summary

The School of Human Services at UNT Dallas offers three undergraduate degree programs: the Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, the Bachelor’s degree in Human Services Management and Leadership (HSML), and the Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies (CDFS). These programs prepare students for work in the public health, nonprofit leadership, and social service sectors. The school also offers professional and academic certificates.

Position Overview

UNT Dallas is bridging the gap between education and workforce readiness through the Classroom to Career initiative, which integrates experiential learning—such as internships, service‑learning, and project‑based collaborations with industry partners—into every student’s academic journey. The initiative emphasizes high‑impact practices to develop communication, adaptability, teamwork, and leadership skills. Faculty are sought across all disciplines to contribute to this transformative, campus‑wide effort.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans and deliver instruction for undergraduate Public Health courses, including but not limited to Introduction to Public Health, Program Planning and Evaluation, Health Promotion, Health Policy, and Epidemiology.
• Design and evaluate teaching objectives and student learning outcomes.
• Fulfill divisional responsibilities, including holding office hours and participating in professional activities.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Public Health with outstanding experience teaching Public Health courses, or a Master’s degree in another health‑profession field with at least 18 graduate hours in Public Health.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in online/hybrid instruction.
• Proven teaching excellence in undergraduate instruction.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret health data.
• Designing and conducting public health studies.
• Assessing effectiveness of public health interventions.
• Effectively conveying health information to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH, PhD) with significant outstanding teaching experience.
• Terminal degree in a specific discipline or a closely related discipline.
• Successful experience teaching adults in a post‑secondary institution.
• Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.
• Experience teaching and developing online courses in the Canvas Learning Management System (Canvas).

Physical Requirements

• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
