The Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach a variety of courses in advertising and public relations during the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters. Courses may include Advertising Technology, Programmatic Advertising, Advertising analytics, Advertising Media Buying and Planning, Influencer Marketing, Ad Management, Ad Copywriting, Ad Art Direction, Research and Campaign Evaluation, Quantitative Methods, Computer Applications for Ad and PR, PR for Non-Profits, Strategic Social Media Sports Media Relations, and Public Relations Writing.

About the role

The position is open to applications at any time and is anticipated to cover the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters. Specific courses will vary from semester to semester, and openings will depend on departmental teaching needs.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with students to exchange information and facilitate learning.
  • Teach a variety of courses in advertising and public relations.
  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures and assignments.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide feedback.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and incorporate them into course material.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field.
  • Extensive professional experience in advertising or public relations.
  • Master's degree in journalism or related field preferred.
  • Three years full-time experience in media and/or college teaching.

Qualifications

  • Experience with HSI/MSIs and/or proficiency in Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or Yoruba is welcomed.

Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and technologies relevant to advertising and public relations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
