Primary Responsibilities
- Provide course instruction ensuring student comprehension, retention, and positive engagement.
- Collaborate with MATC faculty and instructional staff to demonstrate understanding of course content, adopt appropriate instructional methods, and possess pedagogical insight.
- Teach varied assignments based on qualifications and expertise.
- Maintain current certifications relevant to the field.
- Develop and distribute syllabi containing course outcomes and competencies.
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, including technology when available.
- Present enthusiastic, prepared, organized, and clear lectures and classroom activities.
- Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Encourage the development of communication and higher-order thinking skills through assignments.
- Communicate subject matter in a positive learning environment.
- Teach ethical work practices.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of MATC policies and maintain student discipline.
- Effectively use technology tools including MATC Online, e-mail, MS Office, and Internet.
- Evaluate and utilize student work to promote learning.
- Provide timely information and feedback on student academic progress.
- Ensure courses meet current standards and are scheduled according to MATC policy.
- Prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi based on approved department course outlines.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Exercise stewardship of MATC facilities and materials.
- Assist in curriculum development and textbook review/selection.
- Assist in maintaining lab equipment and leave classrooms in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Document and request needed supplies through appropriate procedures.
- Allow students to complete surveys when requested in a timely manner.
- Participate in lesson plan review and documentation.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Thorough and accurate knowledge of the field or discipline.
Ability to interpret and evaluate theories.
Current certifications as appropriate.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of all MATC policies.
Effective use of technology tools including MATC Online, e-mail, MS Office, and Internet.
Knowledgeable in ethical work practices.
Knowledgeable in curriculum development and textbook review/selection.
Knowledgeable in maintaining lab equipment and leaving classrooms in a neat and orderly fashion.
