Adjunct Instructor - Mathematics

Location: Big Rapids (Main Campus), MI

Temporary, part-time adjunct faculty position. One or more applicants may be hired on a semester-by-semester basis for face-to-face and/or online instruction. Candidates must reside in Michigan after being accepted for employment. Anticipated start date: August 2026 or January 2027. The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship.

About the Role

The Mathematics Department at Ferris State University seeks instructors for one or more math courses. This is a pooled position; hiring occurs as needed each semester. Courses are taught in person at the Big Rapids campus.

Pay

$1,458 per credit hour; salary commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT Agreement.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellence in teaching and work effectively with faculty colleagues and a diverse student body.
• Teach classes in face-to-face, online, remote synchronous, and mixed delivery modes.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours at times convenient for students.
• Participate in traditional academic functions, including reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time.
• Teach off-campus or online as required.
• Carry out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.
• Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences.
• Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
• Perform any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education or equivalent.
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in higher education teaching and ability to work effectively with both faculty and students.
• Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural, educational, socioeconomic, and life experiences.
• Unofficial transcript of master’s degree (required for application; official transcript required for finalists).
• Unofficial transcript of doctoral degree (optional, if applicable).
