Summary Of Responsibilities

  • Design and teach assigned course(s) in the program.
  • Plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
  • Create instructional materials, such as course outlines, syllabi, evaluations, quizzes, papers, exams, visual aids, and handouts.
  • Instruct students using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Evaluate student learning using appropriate testing methods.
  • Foster a student-oriented approach to education.
  • Recommend students for advancement and graduation when requested.
  • Maintain accurate records of student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.
  • Submit accurate and timely reports when requested or required.
  • Affiliate with committees and attend faculty and other meetings when invited.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with the academic freedom and professional responsibility statement, and adhere to related policies.
  • Maintain safe classroom conditions and interactions.
  • Instruct students and evaluate learning using methods consistent with OTL-recommended best practices.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

  • Graduation from a COAMFTE-Accredited college or university program with a doctoral degree in MFT or a closely related area.
  • Two years of experience teaching or other closely related professional experience.
  • Licence in Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related area (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience teaching masters-level students.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter and discipline being taught.
  • Knowledge of instructional design and curriculum development principles.
  • Understanding of OTL-recommended teaching methods and best practices.
  • Knowledge of assessment techniques and evaluation methods to measure learning outcomes.
  • Awareness of FERPA regulations and other applicable academic policies.
  • Skill in creating clear, organized, and engaging instructional materials.
  • Skill in facilitating classroom or online learning environments that promote student engagement.
  • Skill in adapting teaching methods to diverse student needs and learning styles.
  • Skill in using technology and learning management systems to support instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Abilities
