Summary Of Responsibilities
- Design and teach assigned course(s) in the program.
- Plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
- Create instructional materials, such as course outlines, syllabi, evaluations, quizzes, papers, exams, visual aids, and handouts.
- Instruct students using appropriate teaching methods.
- Evaluate student learning using appropriate testing methods.
- Foster a student-oriented approach to education.
- Recommend students for advancement and graduation when requested.
- Maintain accurate records of student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.
- Submit accurate and timely reports when requested or required.
- Affiliate with committees and attend faculty and other meetings when invited.
- Become thoroughly familiar with the academic freedom and professional responsibility statement, and adhere to related policies.
- Maintain safe classroom conditions and interactions.
- Instruct students and evaluate learning using methods consistent with OTL-recommended best practices.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Graduation from a COAMFTE-Accredited college or university program with a doctoral degree in MFT or a closely related area.
- Two years of experience teaching or other closely related professional experience.
- Licence in Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related area (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience teaching masters-level students.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter and discipline being taught.
- Knowledge of instructional design and curriculum development principles.
- Understanding of OTL-recommended teaching methods and best practices.
- Knowledge of assessment techniques and evaluation methods to measure learning outcomes.
- Awareness of FERPA regulations and other applicable academic policies.
- Skill in creating clear, organized, and engaging instructional materials.
- Skill in facilitating classroom or online learning environments that promote student engagement.
- Skill in adapting teaching methods to diverse student needs and learning styles.
- Skill in using technology and learning management systems to support instruction.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
