Summary Of Responsibilities
- Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study with measurable objectives for each course taught.
- Prepares instructional materials, including examinations, course outlines, syllabi, visual aids, and presentations.
- Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups through lectures, discussions, conferences, demonstrations, field trips, individualized instruction, and other appropriate methods.
- Evaluates instruction and learning through the use of written, oral, and performance tests.
- Maintains a student-oriented approach to education.
- Recommends students for advancement and graduation.
- Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records regarding student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.
- Establishes and maintains regular office hours and advises students during these office hours as well as at other times, as needed.
- Actively engages students in lectures, discussions, and laboratories.
- Fosters and engages in collegial relations with the community.
- Promotes engagement on campus by serving on relevant committees, developing curriculum, and participating in relevant programs.
- Affords assistance to advisers, the department chair, program coordinator, faculty, and department staff in maintaining an effective program.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a field related to the coursework being taught.
- Demonstrated successful teaching at the college or university level.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in Japanese.
