About the role

Seton Hall University seeks applicants for an adjunct professor position in Japanese, beginning in Fall 2025. The position will be in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures within the College of Arts and Sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality instruction and evaluation of students in various levels of Japanese courses.
  • Create and administer assignments and tests, following Department guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate student records in Canvas and follow all deadlines for timely submission of grades.
  • Attend any faculty meetings pertinent to the instructor.
  • Participate in Department events as needed.
  • Specific duties depend on the course. Most courses meet twice a week with one to two office hours. Adjunct will also have the opportunity to provide a few paid hours of tutoring each week.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher
  • Fluency in Japanese
  • Experience teaching Japanese

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher preferred, but not required
  • Ability to incorporate technology into instruction and provide a well-rounded, interactive learning experience for students

Skills

  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to teach at various levels of Japanese proficiency

Pay

  • Minimum pay is $1200 per credit for those without a terminal degree and $1300 per credit for those with a terminal degree

Schedule

  • One to two courses per semester
