Adjunct Instructor, Immunology
About the Role
Merrimack College’s Department of Natural Sciences seeks an Adjunct Instructor to teach Immunology (BIO3012) during the Fall 2026 semester. The course is cross-listed for undergraduate and graduate students, introducing fundamental principles of immunology while offering advanced study and application at the graduate level.
Key topics include cellular and molecular immunology: innate and adaptive immunity, immune-cell development and function, antigen recognition and presentation, antibody structure and function, cytokine signaling, immune tolerance, hypersensitivity, autoimmunity, immunodeficiency, transplantation, vaccines, and immune responses to infectious disease. Current research and clinical applications are integrated throughout.
Responsibilities
- Deliver in-person lectures on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:15–2:30 pm.
- Develop and administer assessments tailored for both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Grade student work and maintain course materials in the College’s learning management system.
- Establish differentiated expectations and assignments for graduate-level enrollees.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Biology or a closely related field (doctoral degree preferred).
- Ability to teach a course serving both undergraduate and graduate students, setting appropriate graduate-level expectations.
- College-level teaching experience is highly desirable.
- Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and instructional technology is highly desirable.

Pay
Minimum compensation is $5,000 per 4-credit course or $3,750 per lab section. Actual pay will reflect candidate qualifications, prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
