Job Duties
- Teach courses via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities, as assigned.
- Teach day, evening, weekend, off-campus, distance-based courses, as required.
- Comply with course syllabus content and outcomes and update department syllabus, as necessary, at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the execution of contract.
- Regularly check VSCC email and departmental mailbox.
- Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend.
- Submit final grades for each course by the deadline established by the department.
- Complete required College training annually, and training as assigned related to new equipment.
- Complete all required reports such as progress reports, grade submissions, attendance records, as well as administer and return surveys by the required deadlines.
- Communicate with the department director as soon as possible if one is unable to teach a class.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Comply with all the College’s and Tennessee Board of Regents’ (TBR) policies and guidelines, as well as American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center Policies and Procedures.
- AHA Instructors must be aligned with Volunteer State Community College AHA Training center and deliver courses on site at any VSCC campus or off site, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Six months teaching experience or working in a health-related field.
- Appropriate formal education and valid industry credential(s) specific to the course(s) being taught.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in a health care related field.
- Community college experience.
- Experience as a health care educator in a medical facility.
