Adjunct Instructor- Health Sciences Continuing Education (Pool)

Job Duties

  • Teach courses via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities, as assigned.
  • Teach day, evening, weekend, off-campus, distance-based courses, as required.
  • Comply with course syllabus content and outcomes and update department syllabus, as necessary, at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the execution of contract.
  • Regularly check VSCC email and departmental mailbox.
  • Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend.
  • Submit final grades for each course by the deadline established by the department.
  • Complete required College training annually, and training as assigned related to new equipment.
  • Complete all required reports such as progress reports, grade submissions, attendance records, as well as administer and return surveys by the required deadlines.
  • Communicate with the department director as soon as possible if one is unable to teach a class.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Comply with all the College’s and Tennessee Board of Regents’ (TBR) policies and guidelines, as well as American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center Policies and Procedures.
  • AHA Instructors must be aligned with Volunteer State Community College AHA Training center and deliver courses on site at any VSCC campus or off site, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months teaching experience or working in a health-related field.
  • Appropriate formal education and valid industry credential(s) specific to the course(s) being taught.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in a health care related field.
  • Community college experience.
  • Experience as a health care educator in a medical facility.
