About the role
Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach English classes. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.
Responsibilities
- Instruct and guide the class in an efficient and effective manner
- Maintain accurate records of student work and attendance
- Prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour
- Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment
- Grade and return student work in a timely manner
- Counsel students regarding their grades and progress in the course
- Construct classroom materials that support the goals of the course
- Design curriculum and a schedule of instruction
- Use assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
- Maintain communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
- Remain up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
- Attend professional development opportunities when possible
Requirements
- Master’s degree in English or a Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in English

Preferences
- Two years of post-secondary teaching experience
- Community college teaching experience
