About the role

Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach English classes. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and guide the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintain accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Grade and return student work in a timely manner
  • Counsel students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Construct classroom materials that support the goals of the course
  • Design curriculum and a schedule of instruction
  • Use assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
  • Maintain communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
  • Remain up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
  • Attend professional development opportunities when possible

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in English or a Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in English

Preferences

  • Two years of post-secondary teaching experience
  • Community college teaching experience
