Adjunct Instructor: English

About the role

The Department of English seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor Pool and welcomes applications at any time. This posting is for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses will develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in English, Creative Writing, or related fields.
• Develop and maintain course materials using Canvas or similar systems.
• Engage with a diverse student population and foster an inclusive learning environment.
• Provide feedback on student work and conduct regular assessments.
• Participate in department meetings and contribute to curriculum development.

Requirements

• MA or MFA degree in English, Creative Writing, or a closely related field.
• At least 18 graduate credit hours completed in the relevant field.
• At least one year of experience teaching college-level English.
• Familiarity with Canvas or similar learning management systems.
• Experience or training in teaching Developmental Writing.
