Adjunct Instructor - English

Major Responsibilities

• Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
• Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
• Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
• Setsubmits requested information within established timelines.
• Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.
• Deals with student concerns and, if necessary, consults with program coordinator to resolve issues.
• Meets all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).
• Uses technology such as Blackboard, Canva, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.
• In the event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.
• Conducts all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.
• Promotes same as an integral part of one's work.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possesses a master's degree, or higher, in English, or
• Possesses a master's degree, or higher, in any field with 18 graduate semester credit hours in English, linguistics, or courses related to the writing process.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as faculty in higher education.

Hiring Range

$45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,160 per 8-week course).

Work Hours

This role would start in August and run during the fall term. Adjunct Faculty positions typically begin at the start of semesters or the midpoint: January, March, August, or October. Specific hours will depend on classes assigned but may include evenings.
