About the role
Brookdale Community College seeks a qualified adjunct instructor to teach Color Theory within the Fine Art Department for the Fall 2026 semester.
Responsibilities
- Engage a diverse community college student population through instruction in the principles, applications, and cultural contexts of color in traditional and digital media.
- Teach foundational Color Theory in accordance with departmental learning outcomes.
- Develop and deliver lectures, demonstrations, and critiques.
- Introduce students to foundational concepts including color relationships, harmony, contrast, perception, psychology, and composition.
- Develop a course syllabus addendum aligned with department standards, including objectives, outcomes, and grading criteria.
- Support an inclusive and collaborative classroom environment.
- Hold office hours to support students outside of class.
- Adhere to college policies, procedures, and academic standards.
Requirements
- Master of Fine Arts Degree (MFA), in Studio Art, Design, Visual Communications, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficiency with both traditional and digital color applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to teaching excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching experience at the community college level.
- Experience teaching diverse and nontraditional student populations.
