Adjunct Instructor Biological Sciences - Practical Nursing Program
Part-time adjunct instructor position for the Spring 2026 semester (Jan 20, 2026 – May 7, 2026).
About the role
The Health Professions Division at Reading Area Community College seeks adjunct instructors to teach foundational science courses for the Practical Nursing Program. These courses introduce students to the biological principles underlying human function, integrating concepts from anatomy, physiology, physics, chemistry, microbiology, and nutrition. Emphasis is placed on how body systems work together and how normal structure and function relate to physiological changes associated with disease.
PNP 109 & PNP 111 introduce students to the biological principles underlying human function, integrating concepts from anatomy, physiology, physics, chemistry, microbiology, and nutrition. These 3-credit courses are intended to provide a strong background in human anatomy and physiology for students in the Practical Nursing Program.
Responsibilities
- Teach foundational science courses for the Practical Nursing Program.
- Integrate concepts from anatomy, physiology, physics, chemistry, microbiology, and nutrition.
- Explain how body systems work together and relate normal structure and function to physiological changes associated with disease.
- Deliver instruction in multiple modalities, including traditional classroom and online learning environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, or a related biological or health science field.
- Ability to explain and apply scientific principles to healthcare.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to the community college mission and student success.
- Pennsylvania residency required at the time of hire.
Qualifications
- College-level teaching experience, preferably with nursing or allied health students.
- Experience integrating multiple scientific disciplines.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and instructional technology.
Pay
$975 per credit hour (non-negotiable).
