About the role

This position is designated as a security sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in adult echocardiography within the approved discipline.
  • Provide instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses.
  • Mentor students inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, be they face-to-face, hybrid, online, or within the context of dual credit instruction.
  • Engage in instructional preparation and provide timely feedback to students.
  • Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior and be available to students by appointment.
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings and assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.
  • Complete any required training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion, including an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
  • Three years full-time clinical experience as an adult cardiac sonographer.
  • Copies of certificates/licenses must be submitted with application.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 6-10 years work experience in the field of study, or
  • Master’s degree and/or 11-15 years work experience in the field of study, or
  • Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study, or
  • Associate degree plus ARDMS or CCI registration in adult echocardiography.

Skills

  • Instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses.
  • Provide instruction that achieves the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses.
  • Create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory.
  • Communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups.
  • Treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity.
  • Exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources.
  • Observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.

Schedule

Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction.
