Adjunct Instructor- Cardiovascular Sonography

About the role

This position serves the students in the evening classes of the Cardiovascular Sonography Program, and typically requires on-campus scanning lab instruction from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses in the approved discipline
  • Providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses
  • Mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom
  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned
  • Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner
  • Assessment of student performance; including submission of final grades in a timely fashion
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior
  • Be available to students by appointment
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings
  • Audit courses on departmental and institutional levels
  • Complete any required training

Requirements

  • Three (3) years full time clinical experience as an adult cardiac sonographer or vascular sonographer
  • All faculty members must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion. These standards include an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 6-10 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study
  • Master’s degree and/or 11-15 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study
  • Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study

  • Instruct in face-to-face or online courses
  • Provide instruction that will achieve the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses
  • Create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory
  • Communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups
  • Treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity
  • Exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources
  • Observe the stated policies and procedures of the College
