Instruction & Student Learning

The incumbent teaches assigned courses as scheduled. They design curriculum embracing diversity, fostering talent in students through inclusive teaching strategies, and addressing individual student needs. They utilize appropriate technology and communicate clear expectations regarding its use. Records are kept accurately and submitted on time, providing regular feedback to students.

Assessment techniques are employed to measure students' performance against course goals and objectives. The incumbent participates in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairperson to discuss teaching duties and professional development.

Student Engagement & Advisement

A positive classroom atmosphere is created that encourages active learning, academic challenge, and student-faculty interaction. Technology is used to facilitate communication with students, and they encourage a sense of community among learners.

Students are referred to appropriate support services, fostering a culture where all members feel respected and included.

Culture of Respect

A safe environment of respect and inclusion is maintained for faculty, staff, students, and the broader community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field within two years of hire.
  • Current certification in one of the following: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Specialist-physician based (CCS-P).
  • Bachelor's degree + RHIA credential preferred.
  • Prior college-level teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience with Blackboard or other Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred.
