About the role
The Department of Teacher Education at Rider University seeks an adjunct instructor of special education for the Spring 2024 semester beginning January 22, 2024. This position is to teach SPE 300: Inclusive Practices for General Education Teachers.
Responsibilities
- Teach SPE 300: Inclusive Practices for General Education Teachers
- Develop and support inclusive and special education field sites as needed for course requirements
- Support students with mild to severe disabilities in the general education classroom using evidence-based strategies
- Teach on campus, Monday and Wednesdays 1:10 to 2:40pm
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based strategies to support students with mild to severe disabilities in general education settings
- Demonstrated teaching experience in the educational setting supporting students with disabilities in the general education classroom
- Demonstrated knowledge of co-teaching practices and models
- Demonstrated ability to develop and support inclusive and special education field sites as needed for course requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of current issues in special education and inclusive practice
- Availability to teach on campus, Monday and Wednesdays 1:10 to 2:40pm
Qualifications
- Education & Expertise: Graduate degree in special education, inclusive education or related field
- Preferred Qualifications/Experience: Experience as an instructor in higher education, experience teaching at the college level with teacher candidates, expertise in inclusive practice in elementary and secondary schools
