Adjunct Faculty - Surgical Tech
About the role
Adjunct Faculty are hired on an as-needed basis to teach 8 or 16 week contracts. Responsibilities include facilitating student learning, utilizing technology, developing course materials, maintaining records, and interacting professionally with students and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Deliver assigned classes according to College policy and course objectives.
- Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Create/maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways to positively impact their experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
- Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, comply with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
- Ensure knowledge of and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction.
- Meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
- Show evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
- Appreciate, respect, and promote diversity of people, styles, and views.
Qualifications
- Surgical Technology Program Standard: Earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution, Certified Surgical Technologist (or Certified Nurse Operating Nurse, CNOR prior to 2003), and one year of clinical experience in the operating room (three years for program chairs).
- SURG 112 Course Standard: Certified Surgical Technologist and one year of clinical experience in the operating room.
- SURG 114, 212, 214 Course Standard: Meets the Surgical Technology Program Standard or possesses an earned associate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution, and is a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).

$45.45/contact hour
