About the role
The Subject Matter Education Program (Secondary) in the Humanities in the Department of Content Area Teacher Education is seeking adjunct instructors to supervise candidates during Clinical Practice (student teaching).
Responsibilities
- Supervise candidates during Clinical Practice (student teaching)
- Available during daytime hours (8 am – 5 pm)
- Able to travel to local schools
- Supervise clinical practice candidates in middle and high school English Language Arts, Social Studies, Theatre, or World Languages
Required Qualifications
- Master's or doctoral degree in education and/or related area from an accredited institution of higher education in a field at the time of appointment
- A minimum of 3 years of successful teaching in P-12 settings
- Demonstrated ability in communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering academic achievement, social and personal responsibility, and social justice
- Demonstrated commitment to working in an environment devoted to collaboration, collegiality, professional development, diversity, scholarly inquiry, student learning, civic responsibility, and respect for all people
- Demonstrated commitment to working with P-12 schools
- Teaching/learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the College of Education
Preferred Experience
- Experience with the Danielson Framework
- Experience teaching in postsecondary settings
- Experience teaching content in areas such as: English, Social Studies, Spanish, or Theatre at a secondary level (6-12)
Pay
The University provides a minimum of $2,225 per credit for all courses taught, with a maximum teaching load of 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year.
Schedule
Courses will be assigned to instructors by College & Department on an as-needed basis.
