About the role

We are currently accepting applications for adjunct instructors to teach in-person at Anson or Sampson Correctional Institutions as part of Campbell University’s Second Chance Initiative. The initiative offers associate’s and bachelor’s degrees to men and women in correctional facilities in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage course materials from learning objectives and selected textbooks.
  • Collaborate with the Campbell University Site Coordinator/Advisor at the correctional facility to manage textbook orders, coordinate schedule adjustments, and address requests related to the correctional setting.
  • Select and administer tests, assignments, and online discussion exercises that measure student performance against course learning objectives.
  • Evaluate and assess student performance.
  • Complete mandatory IT security training and maintain professional communications with students and staff.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including Title IX and FERPA.
  • Manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.

Requirements

  • Possess a graduate degree (minimum 18 graduate hours from a regionally accredited university) in Communications, Philosophy, Criminal Justice, or Physical Education.
  • Have teaching experience in traditional and/or online education.
  • Have experience teaching adult students.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based communication platforms.
  • Have experience with Blackboard Ultra learning management system.
  • Have industry experience.
  • Have experience traveling to the main campus at Buies Creek, N.C. for interviews and training sessions.
  • Have knowledge of the Christian mission of Campbell University.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in teaching the subject matter is desired.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written channels.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment.
