About the role

The Department of Mathematics and Physics at the University of New Haven is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach introductory Physics lectures, including General Physics I or II (algebra based) lectures and laboratories.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more introductory Physics lectures, including General Physics I or II (algebra based) lectures and laboratories.
  • Present a teaching demonstration via Zoom.

Requirements

  • A Master's or Ph.D. in Physics or a related field.
  • Prior teaching experience teaching college-level preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with preparing courses using best pedagogical practices.
  • Experience with instructional technology.
  • Experience with previous online/remote or hybrid teaching, using web-based instructional software, or other learning management systems.
  • Familiarity with, or the ability to quickly adopt, the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who meet the following qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Physics or a related field.
  • Prior teaching experience teaching college-level preferred.

Skills

Candidates should demonstrate the following skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with instructional technology.
  • Experience with previous online/remote or hybrid teaching, using web-based instructional software, or other learning management systems.

Pay

The pay rate is determined on a per-course basis.

Schedule

You will be expected to teach one or more introductory Physics lectures, including General Physics I or II (algebra based) lectures and laboratories, typically during the Fall 2026 semester.
