About the role
The Adjunct Faculty - Physics position at Northern VA Community College is a part-time role with flexible scheduling based on class schedules. The pay is determined by the number of credit hours taught, ranging from $935 for an Instructor to $1,249 for a Professor. Adjunct faculty members are expected to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters and up to 8 credit hours during summer sessions.
Responsibilities
- Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
- Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
Requirements
- Masters Degree in Physics or a related field of study, OR a Masters degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Physics.
- Prior experience teaching in higher education.
- Experience teaching introductory level astronomy courses.
- Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.
- Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.
