Adjunct Faculty - Physics

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction via in-person format
• Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria
• Engage in assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications and relevance to medicine and health care of concepts covered
• Serve as a supervisor during labs, ensuring students use lab equipment safely and responsibly, obtain good data, and complete assignments within the time provided
• Facilitate teamwork and the development of practical skills
• Use the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments, grades and other materials and to communicate with students
• Advise and assist students through office hours and/or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms
• Engage in service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment
• Collaborate with physics faculty and fellow lab instructors in a team-teaching environment

Requirements

These requirements are based on the need for a strong understanding of physics principles and the ability to effectively teach these concepts in a laboratory setting. Candidates should have:

• A Ph.D. in Physics or a related field
• Experience teaching physics with laboratory components
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of current educational practices and technologies

Qualifications

Pay

The pay for this position is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The days and times of the available labs are:

• Mondays, 5:00pm-7:00pm
• Wednesdays, 8:00am-10:00am
• Wednesdays, 5:00pm-7:00pm
• Thursdays, 2:45pm-4:45pm
• Fridays, 2:45pm-4:45pm
