About the role

KGI’s Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program emphasizes occupation-centered practice, innovation, leadership and advocacy, lifestyle medicine for whole-person care, research and evidence, and optimized service delivery throughout the curriculum. The adjunct faculty occupational therapy position may include curriculum design, teaching, research mentoring, and capstone mentoring within the OTD program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide active, innovative, and high-caliber learning experiences in relevant areas of expertise.
  • Course topics may include psychosocial, pediatrics, ethics, the history of occupation, anatomy, adult, or other programmatic needs.
  • Serve as course coordinator or contributing faculty, as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with ACOTE standards through course design and assessment.
  • Provide documented expertise in areas of teaching responsibility and demonstrate knowledge of the content delivery methods.
  • Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills that support the mission, vision, and values of the OTD program, SHS, and KGI.
  • Support professional, inter-professional, and clinical collaborations through developing collegial relationships within and outside the Institute.
  • Demonstrate commitment to working as a team through innovative problem-solving and flexibility.

Requirements

  • Master's or doctoral degree from a United States Department of Education recognized and accredited program
  • Registered and certified as an occupational therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Licensed occupational therapist in the state of California
  • At least two years of clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist

  • Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Able to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Able to travel locally, depending on business needs
