Faculty-Adjunct-Occupational Therapy

About the role

This position involves teaching assigned courses on campus or online, supporting student learning through various teaching methods and assessments.

Responsibilities

• Delivers appropriate course content to students, prepares course materials and lesson plans, grades student work, provides feedback, and addresses student questions and concerns
• Teaches assigned courses online using the university’s learning management system, adhering to JWU course outlines and online course delivery standards
• Maintains course sites in the learning management system for course materials, assessments, and updates the grade center according to university requirements
• Maintains accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement, and performance in accordance with university policies and procedures
• Distributes a university-approved syllabus to each student via the learning management system, including course objectives, required materials, attendance policy, and evaluation criteria
• Communicates with students, department chairs, and academic counselors regarding their progress and needs, using appropriate university systems
• Refers students to university resources for additional support, including career services, library services, academic support, accessibility services, counseling, and more
• Populates the university’s faculty information system with necessary data to establish teaching credentials and maintains data as needed
• Attends faculty orientation and meetings as requested by the college

Requirements

• Master's degree in occupational therapy or a related field from a regionally accredited institution, or other appropriate accreditation as determined by Johnson & Wales University
• Experience working in a mental health setting
• Registered occupational therapist with RI licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure
• Ability to travel to fieldwork site in Providence area and meet site-specific immunization and other compliance requirements

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire. College/university transcripts are required prior to hire.
