Major Responsibilities

  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submits requested information within established timelines.
  • Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.
  • Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

Instruction

  • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).
  • Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.
  • In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.
  • Congduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.
  • Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Education, Experience And Other Requirements

  • For Practical Nursing (PN) Program Faculty: A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required. A Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) is preferred for lead/lecture faculty. Must hold a current, unencumbered RN license. Two years of direct patient care experience required.
  • For Nursing (ASN, PN, Or LPN-to-RN Programs): A Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) is preferred. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is the minimum, if the instructor is currently enrolled in a graduate program in nursing and making progress toward completion. Must hold a current, unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license (or a compact state license recognized in Indiana). At least two years of direct patient care experience as a registered nurse. Clinical teaching assignments may require specific expertise in the specialty area (e.g., pediatrics, med-surg, OB, psych/mental health).
