Adjunct Faculty- Nursing

About the role

Adjunct Faculty are hired on an as-needed basis to teach 8 or 16 week contracts. Responsibilities include facilitating student learning, using technology effectively, developing course materials, maintaining records, interacting professionally, and ensuring safety.

Major Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned classes according to College policy and course objectives.
• Use technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Create and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engage with students in meaningful ways to positively impact their experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
• Interact with students and colleagues professionally, comply with College policies, and implement emergency procedures.
• Ensure knowledge of and implementation of emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction.
• Faculty credentials as outlined in ASOM 7.1 for specific areas of instruction.
• Appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity.
• Three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse for full-time faculty or two (2) years for part-time faculty.
• A current, unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse license.
• A Master’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
• For Bachelor’s degree holders, a written academic plan of study for a Master’s degree in nursing within one semester of initial appointment.
• Ongoing documentation of matriculation towards a Master’s degree in nursing.
• Continued employment contingent upon progress towards approved academic plan.

Other Requirements

• Transcripts and/or relevant certifications/licenses required at time of hire.

Supervision

Receives supervision from Program Chair, Department Chair, or Dean. No supervision given.
