Adjunct Instructor position for nursing clinicals in the Grand Rapids area during Fall 2026. Typical clinical schedules include Tuesday/Wednesday mornings, Wednesday/Thursday mornings, or Thursday/Friday mornings. Semester dates align with GRCC’s Academic Calendar. Adjunct needs and the number of sections offered are determined on a semester-by-semester basis.
Responsibilities
- Teach GRCC nursing courses and fulfill adjunct faculty responsibilities, including fostering a stimulating classroom and clinical environment.
- Follow syllabus templates and use department-approved textbooks.
- Maintain accurate student records and provide reasonable accommodations as per ADA guidelines, as approved by Disability Support Services.
- Respond to communications promptly and ensure student access to course information.
- Perform tasks normally expected of adjunct faculty members, including grading, preparing for class, and responding to student inquiries.
- Follow the required syllabus template and comply with GRCC policies and the Faculty Association Contract.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- 4,000 hours of recent experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Michigan Registered Nurse Licensure.
- Teaching experience preferred.
Skills
- Expertise in nursing subject areas, including but not limited to Long Term Care/Rehab, Pediatrics, and Medical-Surgical Nursing.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse student populations and faculty.
- Proficiency in instructional technology and learning management systems (e.g., Gmail, Canvas, Blackboard).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Physical Demands
- Some evening work required for grading, preparing for class, and responding to email questions.
- Early morning arrival at clinical sites may be necessary.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
