Adjunct Faculty - Nursing
About the role
Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided; making optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods; supplementing and altering, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials; maintaining accurate student records, grades, and other requirements; engaging with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College; demonstrating evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning; interacting with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines and expectations; and maintaining a safe, quality educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
- Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
- Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
- Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines and expectations.
- Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
Requirements
- Absolutely must have an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ASN) and Practical Nursing (PN) Program Faculty Standard.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Possesses a current, unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse license.
- The majority of faculty shall hold master’s degrees in nursing.
- Faculty with bachelor’s degrees in nursing must meet ALL of the following requirements:
- Within one semester of initial appointment, must have a written academic plan of study for completion of a Master’s degree in nursing.
- Provides ongoing documentation (each semester) demonstrating matriculation towards completion of a Master’s degree in nursing.
- Continued employment of a person who does not hold a master’s degree in nursing shall be contingent upon documented progress towards their approved academic plan.
