Adjunct Faculty - Nursing

The Grand Rapids Community College department of Nursing is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Adjunct Instructor to teach nursing clinicals in Fall 2026 for the Grand Rapids area.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a commitment to student success, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for all students. Adjunct needs are determined on a semester by semester basis, as are the number of sections offered each semester.

Responsibilities

• Teach GRCC course offerings in Nursing.
• Foster a stimulating classroom environment.
• Follow syllabus templates.
• Use department-approved textbooks.
• Maintain accurate student records.
• Provide reasonable accommodations as per ADA guidelines.
• Respond to communications promptly.
• Ensure student access to course information.
• Perform tasks normally expected of adjunct faculty members.
• Follow the required syllabus template.
• Comply with GRCC policies and the Faculty Association Contract.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution required.
• 4000 hours recent experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Michigan Registered Nurse Licensure.
• Teaching experience preferred.

Skills

• Expertise in the subject area.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Specific subject area includes but is not limited to Long Term Care/Rehab, Pediatrics, and Medical - Surgical Nursing.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations and faculty.
• Proficiency in instructional technology and learning management systems (e.g., Gmail, Canvas, Blackboard).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Physical Demands

• Some evening work (grading, preparing for class, responding to email questions) will be needed.
• Some clinicals begin early in the morning; ability to arrive to clinical site early will be needed.
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
