About the Role
Strayer University is seeking a dynamic Adjunct Faculty member to teach undergraduate/graduate level Law/Legal Studies (LEG) courses in a hybrid format for the Fall quarter, starting October 5, 2026. This role requires teaching both in-person and asynchronously online, with 11 in-person sessions (2 hours each) per week at a Strayer University campus. The remainder of the course is delivered online. Adjunct Faculty serve as instructors, coaches, and mentors, fostering a strong faculty-student relationship and building a community in the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses using a pre-designed curriculum while leveraging professional expertise to provide high-quality instruction.
- Enhance curriculum strength and effectiveness through technology and multimedia (e.g., videos).
- Arrive on-campus at least 30 minutes prior to in-person sessions each week.
- Utilize the online learning platform to enrich the student learning experience for the online component.
- Be available to students via email, phone, text, and office hours to provide timely feedback and support academic success.
- Establish high academic standards and ensure students understand evaluation criteria.
- Adhere to University policies and procedures.
- Attend faculty meetings, workshops, or training as required.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate or Master of Laws Degree (required). A terminal degree or progress toward one is preferred.
- 5 years of professional experience in Law/Legal Studies (required).
- Some professional experience in Business Law (required).
- Teaching experience at the college level and online teaching experience (strongly preferred).
- Professional certification in discipline specialty (if applicable).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of academic technology and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with academic evaluation methods.
- Excellent oral presentation, planning, and organizational skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
Other Requirements
- Ability to travel weekly to the assigned campus location.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Mobility within an office setting, including movement between floors.
- Occasional travel via plane, car, or metro may be required.
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week when necessary.
- Strong mental acuity and ability to cope with stressful situations.
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
Pay
$2,300–$2,600 per online assignment per quarter; $3,000 per on-campus assignment per quarter. On-campus teaching may be required if located near a campus. Actual pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity.
